Heidel studied jazz saxophone and composition at the University of Music Munich until 2017. Afterward, he began combining electronic music, jazz, and contemporary classical chamber music. With his seven-piece band Homo Ludens, he performed at various prestigious events such as the xJazz Berlin Festival (2018, 2021), the Jazztage Dresden, and ÜberJazz in Hamburg. Heidel currently lives in Berlin.

His debut album Moments of Resonance (Kryptox, 2019) presents a fusion of modern classical and electronic influences, establishing Heidel as a skilled researcher of both analog and digital sound concepts.

Heidel's compositional abilities also extend to theater, where he has created works for renowned institutions like the Berliner Ensemble, the Volksbühne Berlin, and the Volkstheater München. Additionally, he works as an arranger, producer, composer, and instrumentalist for other artists.

In 2021, he released his EP Relief, where he explored the electronic sound world of the saxophone. Following this, Heidel contributed as a multi-instrumentalist to the album of the artist Casper. He was then offered the position of musical director for Casper, and since the spring of 2022, Heidel has been touring as M.D. for Casper.

More and more people from the rap scene, seeking a new sound, are taking notice of Heidel. In 2022 and 2023, he co-wrote an album with Ben Bazzazian. Since last year, Heidel has also been one of the main producers and composers for the album Haut wie Pelz by Apsilon.

In addition, Ralph Heidel received three composition commissions in the field of modern classical music, including releases by the string quartet Berlin Strings and the woodwind quintet Dandelion Quintet. Next, he composed a string duo for the Kontai Ensemble.

In 2022, Ralph Heidel released his current album Modern Life, which was co-created with Max Rieger and received international press attention (Mojo, Vision, BBC, among others). He released four live session videos and performed several concerts.

This year, Finn Ronsdorf’s album From Mind We Arise was released, also produced by Heidel. Since last year, Ronsdorf and Heidel have been working closely together, performing as a duo at many concerts, including as support for Jungstötter and Tristan Brusch.
